This review is not talking about the movie with the blue people, or the film made by M. Night Shyamalan; or as I call him Shyamalanding-dong; a title he earned because of the disgraceful, butchered movie he did based on this wonderful anime. Avatar: The Last Airbender was created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and aired on Nickelodeon in 2005-2008.
The show is set in a world with an oriental theme and agricultural society. Some people in this world are called Benders. They can control one out of the four elements; water, earth, fire, or air. Each generation of this world has an Avatar; one who can manipulate all the elements. Then, one country called the Fire Nation started a war. As a result of the conflict, the Avatar of that generation was supposedly killed. However he turned up alive 100 years later.
This Avatar is named Aang. At first he only has the ability to airbend; still young. But as the show goes on he begins to grow. In fact, all the characters in the show are well developed; Each being believable and given superb dialogue.
The plot is well done also. It is simple enough to let the characters shine. The animation is perfect for what it needs to be. Sometimes action, other times comedy. The soundtrack adds to the show as well; describing the anime in its own way.
The show is rated G to PG; PG only for fictional violence. There is no gore. You can find out more at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417299/?ref_=nv_sr_1#.
This anime is very nostalgic for me, as I have been watching it since I was 6 years old. It is thoroughly enjoyable for all ages; kids and adults. I recommend it to everyone and give it 9 out of 10 stars.
