For those who don’t know, I have very eclectic taste in music. It can range from piano solos, Japanese rap and heavy metal, to a bit of 70’s. Below is a list of songs you probably haven’t listened to. All are different styles, yet recommended by me.
- ‘Yellow Man’ by Blue Foundation- I personally can’t get enough of this song. It’s a strange combination of rap and alternative with Japanese lyrics. It may sound unappealing at first, but it really grows on you. Maybe because everything in the song gets along so well.
- ‘Samson and Delilah’ by Shirley Manson- I found this song through the show Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles (which is really good by the way). The rock style with the fabulous vocals build up the excitement of the song.
- ‘Elegy’ by Bear McCreary- From the highly praised Battlestar Galactica Soundtrack, this song is merely piano; a stark difference from the rest of the soundtrack. This song surpasses the rest of the album. It’s elegance projects longing, loss, and somberness, yet with a bit of hope glimmering in the background.
- ‘Chouwa oto’ by KOKIA- Another Japanese song, but very different style from ‘Yellow Man’. Now, I’m not sure how popular KOKIA is in Japan, but I know she isn’t as popular in the states so, here it is! J ‘Chouwa oto’ is gentle yet powerful, and flows verse to verse. A wonderful melody with multiple instruments and voices mingling together perfectly.
- ‘Make Me a Robot’ and ‘The Things I Do’ by Tessa Violet- I honestly don’t know how popular Tessa Violet is, but if you don’t know her, she’s a YouTuber that published some songs of hers back in 2014. They are heartfelt and unique, and sometimes nerdy. I really relate to two songs I mentioned before. The lyrics are powerful.
If you had listened to some or all of these songs, good for you! Please tell me in the comments what you thought of the article and song list.
