These are the shows that I have inspired me. These are the ones that I have watched over and over again and still be entertained and got something meaning full out of it. These are the shows that have made me fall in love; and not just with them, but the realm of entertainment, its influence on world, and the thrilling worlds it can create. Here is the list of my favorites in television.
- ‘Firefly’ by Joss Whedon- The cult classic has been praised, adored, and studied meticulously because of its phenomenal plot, dialogue, acting, directing; basically every single aspect of this show is perfection. The only problem is the fact that it ended after only 14 episodes, sending the entire fanbase into never-ending withdrawal. The people responsible for cancellation quickly received death threats. Eventually, the movie ‘Serenity’ was produced to give us fans some closure to the fact that we would never get our favorite show back… Despite all this however, I highly suggest that you submit yourself to fourteen hours of bliss and suffer the symptoms of withdrawal for the rest of your life, because it’s worth it! You can watch it on Netflix and Hulu.
- ‘Battlestar Galactica’ by Ronald D. Moore- No, I’m not speaking of the original. I am referring to the glorious remake made in 2004. ‘Battlestar Galactica (2004)’ was prompted by a remake miniseries of the same name. The miniseries became so popular that the full series was created and continued on for over four years. The thrilling scifi has vibrant and dynamic characters and continuously changing setting; very well written. And the music, made by Bear McCreary, nearly makes the entire show surpass ‘Firefly’. Sadly, I don’t think you can stream it, but if you buy the series you will not regret it.
- ‘Sherlock’ by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat- I love this show for so many reasons. The cinematography is gorgeous, the writing is unique and believable and contains witty dialogue; the characters have so many facets. Even the fillers are amazing! Something I do not say lightly. Each episode is an hour and a half long, which makes up for the fact that there are only three episodes per season and it took years to make seasons 1,2, and 3. Again, another show causing extreme withdrawal, but still worth it.

- ‘Continuum’ by Simon Barry- This one takes a while to get into. But as the show goes on, the characters grow, and the plot develops, getting more complex as the time traveling messes up all of the characters’ worlds. Yet, for a time traveling show, it never gets too confusing. The acting is also superb. Again, it’s on Netflix, so go watch it!
- ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko- I adore this show! Of course that is somewhat because of nostalgia, but in all honesty, this is still the best anime I have seen. It is great for all the reasons said in the past shows, and it has amazing action. The bending is based off of true martial art forms. It’s a show for all ages; I’ve found that even grown adults love, or at least like, this show. I am not certain if it is on Netflix, but buying it would not be a mistake.
Those are my top five for TV! Here are a few honorable mentions:
White Collar
Babylon 5
Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles
Phineas and Ferb
